6 day Family Trip to Paris

Tournesol Travel specializes in private, customized travel experiences based on the individual interests, pace and schedule of our customers. Below an example of such an itinerary.

Day 1 | Paris & The Latin Quarter

Upon landing in Paris, our private driver will meet you outside Charles de Gaulle airport’s baggage claim and transfer you to your hotel.

At 5:30 PM, once you are refreshed, your personal chauffeur will meet you at the hotel to take you on a two-hour ride around Paris in a vintage car and introduce you to all the sites: Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Champs-Elysées, and more and make surprise stops.

He will drop you off at the Eiffel Tower so you can ride the lift to the summit for your first breathtaking bird’s eye view of the City of Lights. Stop on your way down for dinner at Madame Brasserie, in the heart of this iconic architectural wonder.

After dinner, you will cap your first day in Paris by boarding a river boat right by the Eiffel Tower after dark, cruising on the Seine past magnificent historical façades, and be dazzled by the exquisite way Paris illuminations sparkle at night.

Day 2 | Paris

Take it slow today as you are adjusting to the time zone. Start with an amazing tour of Paris on a tuk-tuk (a big hit with children!) with a child-friendly guide.

You will be dropped off by the Pont Neuf, the oldest and most beautiful bridge in Paris on your way to l’Ile de la Cité. Walk along the North side of Notre-Dame Cathedral and view the flying buttresses (built in 1180!), being rebuilt following the tragic fire of April 2019: follow a fascinating exhibit documenting the extraordinary process of restoration underway displayed on the walls surrounding the site, complete with riveting photos and explanations.

In the afternoon  meet your private guide to learn about the history, architecture of the classy neighborhood of Saint Germain des Prés, near your hotel on a culinary journey through its luxurious flavors.

You will make 10 different stops, including macarons, quiche, cheese, different foods and drinks, enough to skip dinner! You'll walk past some of the Left Bank's most popular attractions, from Odeon, Panthéon to Saint-Sulpice. Your private guide can customize your experience according to your preferences, including making vegetarian choices.

Day 3 | Paris & LE MARAIS

This morning, a private and creative Louvre Family Tour, a “Scavenger Hunt,” will have your child be a detective and archeologist solving mysteries in the Louvre. Your art historian expert will guide you through every step as you explore Egyptian mythology, GreekLatin Antiquity and, of course, the famous Mona Lisa. By discovering the masterpieces and observing the details hidden in the art pieces, your child will solve the enigma, and his/her observational skills will help put clues together. Answers to the clues lead to the treasure, little gifts for your child to remember his adventure at the Louvre.

This afternoon, embark on a foodie exploration in the historical Marais district, where the best bakeries, crêperies, and chocolatiers await your visit for mouth-watering specialties from many regions of France: a Tour de France of Pastries and Chocolate, and bit of history of this oldest part of Paris. Along the way, your young gourmand will be challenged by riddles to find the place where a delicious tasting awaits you.At the end of the treasure hunt, your reward is a chocolate fondue!

Day 4 | Paris

Walking through the historic Latin Quarter, past the famous Sorbonne University you will reach Le Jardin des Plantes and its amazing Natural History Museum open to the public for 400 years: its collection is particularly captivating for young children. Its famous Grand Evolutionary Gallery displays over 7,000 animal models, bones and specimens.

Just a short walk from there, let yourself be transported to a marvelous world of fantasy and tap into the eternal child in you at the “Musée des Arts Forains,” a museum of toys, rides and make-believe from yesteryears. An actor/ comedian will lead your guided visit through this magical universe. Most of all, spend an hour and a half of pure joy and timeless entertainment in a museum unlike any other, designed to delight all of us between 5 and 99 years old

In the afternoon, visit the Paris Opera House, an 1870’s architectural masterpiece, with a ceiling painted by Chagall and a 7- ton chandelier. Climb the Grand Escalier (staircase), walk in the Grand Foyer - feeling like you’re in a movie set! - anddiscover why it is considered the most beautiful Opera House in the world. A fun tour (private) inside the Opera house takes you and your son to solve a mystery.

Day 5 | Paris & Versailles

The Versailles Palace’s 87 million square feet of magnificent grounds, well-manicured gardens and jaw-dropping architecture continue to astonish us all.

Visiting the Palace of Versailles with children is a highlight for any family holiday in Paris. On this private tour, you will benefit from fast-track entry and get a family-friendly guide trained to lead children through Versailles: she will make it informative, fun, and interactive so that your family can fully appreciate the beauties of this Palace. She is an amazing storyteller who will entertain you with how life was at the outrageous French Court!

The 357 separate panels in the Hall of Mirrors are an experience: imagine the bursting effect of the sunset, beaming through the windows! There is no better ending to Versailles than its Gardens and your guide will lead you to the best viewpoints.

Last but not least, a dazzling water spectacle springs out of 55 fountains, an engineering feat designed by Louis’ XIV in the 1600’s, involving 35 kilometers of canals throughout the gardens.

At the end of the tour, you may remain in the Gardens as long as you like: your access is valid all day. You may decide to spend the rest of your day, even having dinner, in this charming city and return to Paris by train whenever you’re ready.
